The Third Annual Geriatronics Summit 2024 brought together AI and robotics researchers, care providers, and the general public from over 16 countries and 40 institutions to discuss the application of AI and robotics in improving care for older adults and individuals with disabilities, benefiting both patients and carers alike.
MIRMI welcomed 12 speakers across seven countries and 11 different institutes, as well as 219 attendees, from 16 countries and over 40 institutions in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Around half of the attendees (47%) and speakers (42%) were women, and the event was well attended by academic and non-academic sectors alike.
Improving healthcare with AI and robotics
The summit addressed the integration of AI and robotics into the care of elderly adults and those with disabilities, encouraging collaboration on developing safe, ethical, and reliable technologies to benefit both patients and caregivers.
The event began with a tour of the Geriatronics Research Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, followed by two days of presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, encouraging collaborative conversations and innovation around Geriatronics.
The CEO and Co-founder of the robotics company Hello Robot, Aaron Edsinger, praised the summit for bringing together so many attendees: “All of them are focused on the same core problem and the same mission. To me, it's nice because that's something I'm thinking about the whole year round, and now I see them all in one place – that's fantastic. All the different skills, knowledge, and expertise you need to bring together to make some impact."
