Since its opening in October 2018, MIRMI’s researchers have taken the initiative to implement projects together. The institute started its journey with 33 core members and a mission: Develop breakthrough methods and technologies for solving the grand societal challenges of our time with a focus on the future of the environment, work, health, and mobility by disrupting the boundaries in robotics, perception and artificial intelligence.

Today, MIRMI has more than 40 Principal Investigators and more than 140 research associates in specialties such as neurosurgery, ethics, astronautics, augmented reality, environmental modeling, ergonomics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and many more. MIRMI has succeeded in starting the lighthouse initiatives Geriatronics and KI.FABRIK, organizing teaching and networking activities with international top universities like ICL as well as the munich i trade fair with the cooperation of Messer München. The institute is also in the process of establishing new focus groups to facilitate research among TUM chairs. Our members and their research teams made all these achievements a reality.
